WHY CHOOSE DUCTLESS HEATING?
Homeowners today have so many options to heat their homes. But we hope that you don’t find yourself in need of a heating replacement just yet. If you do wind up in an emergency situation, we recommend that you consider ductless heating.
Ductless heating in Central Iowa, has grown more common over the years. Ductless heating affords homeowners some unique benefits that more traditional heaters just cannot offer. Consider the following information regarding ductless mini splits, and let our team know if you are ready to go ductless in your home.
DUCTLESS HEATERS ARE HEAT PUMPS
The first thing that you should know about the operation of ductless mini splits is that they are in fact heat pumps. Like other heat pumps, ductless mini splits are thus able to provide you with both the heating and the cooling that you need. This is thanks to its use of the heat transfer process, and its ability to reverse that process.
During the summer season, ductless mini splits evaporate refrigerant indoors. This removes heat from the air in the house. That refrigerant is then condensed outdoors, with its heat being vented outside. During the winter, though, the operation is reversed. Thermal energy is drawn from the air outside — even when it is very cold. The refrigerant is then compressed to further boost its energy.
HOW IS THE AIR DISTRIBUTED?
Okay, you’re thinking, I understand the heat transfer process. But how is the conditioned air distributed without ductwork? The answer to this question lies in the units that the ductless mini-split uses. These blowers supplant the traditional system of ductwork.
The blowers are connected to the outdoor unit via simple conduits containing power, refrigerant, and any drainage lines. They then heat or cool the air directly. Typically, a ductless system can support up to four blowers per single outdoor unit. The blowers are all controlled independently of one another.
SO WHY DUCTLESS HEATING?
Now that you understand the design and operation of the system, you may be wondering why this is a good option. There are many benefits to going ductless, including the following.
–Efficiency. Heat pumps are very efficient systems, as they don’t generate new heat. The ductless takes efficiency even further, allowing for built-in zone control as well as eliminating the risk of air loss via duct leaks. –Versatility. Like all heat pumps, the ductless mini split allows you an all-in-one, year-round comfort. –Comfort. This is really the name of the game. With a ductless mini split, you can control temperatures in different areas of your home, improving upon your comfort even as you reign in energy costs.
